Super Macbook Battery!!!

Funny, when I powered on my Macbook this morning, I was pleasantly surprised:

If only this weren't a bug...

If only this weren't a bug...

I launched System Profiler to check the status of the battery and, yes, we have a bug:

Go go go!!!

Go go go!!!

Who needs a Macbook Pro with 8 hours of battery life now, huh? Hehehehe 😉

New year – new look – new, uh, news =)

Happy New Year! I know, I know, my greeting is two weeks late, hehehe…

2008 was a good year for my “tech-addictions” for two reasons:

  1. I finally took the plunge into Apple OS X (they plan to drop “Mac” from their trademark, so I’m following their lead). IMHO, it’s light years away from Windows XP and Vista in a lot of aspects. For one, I used to do virus-scans, defrags & various system maintenance tasks a few times a month with my old Acer laptop running XP. Now, I run Onyx once in a while after installing some programs and/or updates. Besides that, I set ClamXav to run scans on new files in my downloads folder, just to be on the safe side. My white Macbook has only been with me since June, but it feels like we’ve been “friends” forever. Still, you ask, why did I take the plunge? The reason is..
  2. I bought an iPhone 3G from Globe last September (hehe, I’m eating my own words) and started studying Objective-C/Cocoa to develop apps for the iPhone OS. Before this, my only experience with “programming” is HTML/CSS, so this is a fairly big leap for me. But, thanks to great resources like Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X and Beginning iPhone Development: Exploring the iPhone SDK, as well as the wealth of resources on Apple’s iPhone DevCenter, I’m learning at a nice pace and enjoying my studies at the same time. Of course, the only platform supported for iPhone development is OS X, so I definitely had to buy an Apple laptop.

Because of this, I will definitely not have time to update my blog regularly. Still, it’ll be good to unwind here once in a while, especially when there’s big news in the tech world. I leave you with a cool screenshot of Microsoft’s latest beta OS, Windows 7, running on VirtualBox on my Macbook. Till next time 😉
